So, tonight I cured the legs for the BuddhaBot prototype. I over-cured the polymer clay, so the clay is a dark brow color. It’s not a total disaster because I’m going to spraypaint the entire thing in white. Here are some lessons I learned:
- Research the medium I’m working in before I make lasting changes to said medium (ie curing polymer clay)
- While hot, Super Sculpey WILL BE rubbery so it seems like it’s not done. This is not the case. It will harden when cooled (looking back, this seems like commonsense.
- Super Sculpey is done curing when it has lost its oily sheen.
- Also when cured, it’s color should be about the same as the color it was when you placed it in the oven.
